米Yahoo!で「My Yahoo! RSS Beta」公開
ついにYahooがRSS対応し始めた。ただし、米国での話である。日本語サイトは、未対応のようである。Googleのノイズ除外の話といい、今年はRSS/blog一色かな？
☆ 米Yahoo!で「My Yahoo! RSS Beta」公開
My Yahoo!にRSS機能を追加しようとしていることは一部ですでに報道されていたが、現実に多くのトラフィックを持つMy Yahoo!にRSS機能が付加されたことは多くのWebサイトに影響を与えると考えられる。Yahoo!はこれまでもYahoo! NewsなどのRSSフィードを公開しており、Yahoo!の多くのエンジニアがRSSに興味を抱いていることはよく知られている。Zawodny氏は、この機能はそうした背景から生まれたものだと説明している。
Yahooで働いているJeremy ZawodnyさんのblogでRSS対応した理由及び方法がかかれていた。理由がなんともユニークなので以下に引用する。
Why?
Three simple reasons...RSS makes it easier to track and share dynamic information and has been growing in popularity over the last years. It is becoming an increasingly important technology for anyone who spends time online gathering news or keeping track of friends and family (via weblogs). It's not just for geeks anymore.
It makes My Yahoo better. No longer are you restricted to the content that Yahoo has traditionally provided. It's the next logical step.
And, well, it's just cool. That counts for something too. :-)
